Fall Respiratory Illness Information
Respiratory illnesses such as Influenza (flu), COVID-19 and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) tend to circulate the most between November and April each year. These can be serious illnesses that affect the lungs and throat and are easily spread through respiratory droplets or aerosols released when an infected individual talks, sneezes, coughs or cries. These droplets can land in the mouth or nose of someone nearby or be inhaled. Or, they can spread if a person touches a contaminated surface and then touches their mouth, nose or eyes.
It’s important that we take steps to keep ourselves and those around us healthy. Staying up to date with your vaccinations is a safe and effective way to prevent infection.
